As part of my application to the Stanford GSB Research Fellows Program for the GCAP Lab track position, I had the opportunity to study the research produced by the Global Capital Allocation Project (GCAP) Lab, led by Professors Matteo Maggiori, Jesse Schreger, and Antonio Coppola together with their collaborators.
The GCAP Lab research introduced me to a new perspective on international finance by highlighting how capital flows, currency systems, and financial infrastructure interact with geopolitics and state power. It provided a framework for understanding international finance not only as a set of market mechanisms, but also as part of the broader architecture of geoeconomic influence. Through this work, I developed a clearer understanding of key mechanisms shaping the global financial system, including tax havens, sanctions, currency dominance, capital allocation, and the role of financial systems as instruments of geoeconomic power.
While studying the GCAP Lab papers, I prepared structured research reviews of each paper using a consistent analytical framework. The collection of reviews is compiled below.
